Flowen Lava Baby!!

We rode about an little over an hour away from Antigua by van to get to PACAYA. When we got out of our van we were swarmed by all the little children of the village trying to sell us the necessities. Luckily we had packed well. It was raining pretty hard on us our whole hike up. It was also extremely over-caste. I knew that the altitude was increasing due to my ears, the hike up, and loss of breath. Then we reached this major sloping hill of volcanic rock where we cold slide & play. So here we are....

Don Augosto was our colorful tour guide. He only spoke in Spanish but was pretty easy to understand and he had a great sense of humor. He lived in a village near the Volcano called San Francisco with you guessed it- - - 9 children- - - 9 CHILDREN!

Here is Narayan & Mandy (AKA Narandy) passing off their camera!

This pick really shows how steep the climb was. (It was probably better that we could only see a couple feet in front of us!)

The money shot.

Then suddenly the rain ceased, the clouds lifted, and we could see everything! We hiked for 30 more minutes or so and then we reached the...

FlOWEN LAVA BABY!!!!

Abdullah and I enjoying are lava roasted marshmallows!

The lava was so hot that it caught the stick on fire & it melted one guys whole sole off of his shoe.

You can see the lava flowing off the side of the mountain.

Everybody needs a little cheesiness!

A celebratory beer after a tough hike!

So far this has been my favorite excursion! We left at 2:30 P.M. & made it Back to our hostel at 9:30 P.M. just in time for the kitchen to be closed. So we ate the travelers classic or peanut butter, chips, & honey. And for dessert FRESAS. Always good times....
