So the rainy season has definitely caught up with me here in Nicaragua. It basically has rained everyday. At first it started off in the afternoon, just in time for siesta. Now it has escalated to all day long (on & off.) Rain always spices up any day, especially when you are traveling....
Tino is my lucky new Italian born, London raised, Australian immigrated professional dancer friend. We decided that despite the weather we were going to have a lovely day excursion to the beach in Poneyola. (It is north Nicaragua on the Pacific side.) Poneyola is the beach friendly side. The beach is actually divided into two sections by a huge bolder. Of course we waited to long on the bus to go to the proper beach. But that made this rainy day beach saga way more exciting!
The most delish sugary Fresco. It comes from some type of fruit, though, I can never seem to remember its exact name. It cost all of 25 cents and is a special treat to have a pajita (straw) and not just drink straight from the plastic sack.
Scooby is Tino's mascot. He goes everywhere with him (its a long story.) But it sure does make for entertaining photography. I really need to get my Flat Stanley project together.
The part of the beach we were on was not swimmable. The waves were booming, and there were jagged rocks everywhere. At least with the rain it wasn't even remotely inciting.
Tino was an excellent tour guide in these authentic Mayan ruins, which provided amazing much needed shelter during our picnic lunch.
Cow crossings on the way back home.
